I provide counseling for couples using a combination of Gottman Method in combination with Existential-Humanism.
Gottman Method is an evidence-based approach based on four decades of research by Drs. John and Julie Gottman which combines assessment, practical/tactical relationship skillbuilding, and existential therapy with goals to:
- Disarm conflicting verbal communication
- Increase intimacy, respect, and affection
- Remove barriers that create a feeling of stagnancy in conflicting situations
- Create a heightened sense of empathy and understanding within the context of the relationship
- Develop and strengthen a sense of shared meaning and life vision
WHAT TO EXPECT
I ask couples to intially meet weekly with the possibility of meeting every-other-week for maintenance and ongoing interventions.
Couples should expect a minimum of 10-12 sessions (and often more) in order to experience meaningful impacts and change to the relationship.
For teletherapy, I ask that you join from the same room and device.
